Anyone who thinks of the Leipzig Book Fair will soon think of the Book Fair there. Leipzig also stands for many other events – from consumer fairs to trade fairs in the fields of industry, medicine and energy. The city thus presents itself as a point of view for some of the most important trade fairs in Germany, some of which also have international appeal.
Trade fair Leipzig – Facts and figures
The new Leipzig Exhibition Centre opened its doors in 1996. Since then, the site has not only stood for architectural transparency, clarity and straightforwardness, but with its five exhibition halls also offers a well thought-out exhibition concept for trade fairs of all kinds. A total of 111,900 square metres of covered exhibition space and 70,000 square metres of open-air grounds are available for the events. In addition, there is the Congress Center Leipzig, which is one of the most modern congress and conference centres in Europe. The architectural highlight is the impressive 238-metre-long glass hall, which was built with the collaboration of British star architect Ian Ritchie. In addition, the site is optimally designed for large crowds of visitors and has generous parking space: 12,500 visitors, 2,000 exhibitors and 200 trucks are available.
Trade fair Leipzig – The public trade fairs
This large number of parking spaces is also necessary for the visitor magnets within the public fairs. The Leipzig Book Fair, which is regarded as the most important spring meeting place for the book and media industry, is particularly well received: almost 200,000 visitors flocked to Leipzig last year, including many foreign trade visitors. The fair has long since established itself outside Germany as well. Manga Comic-Con is also very popular. The fair about a special sub-genre of literature is also enjoying growing popularity in this country. In 2018, 170 exhibitors were present on 20,000 square metres to present their offerings in the fields of manga, comics, graphic novels, games, Japan, cosplay and music. This attracted 104,000 visitors to Leipzig. The Leipzig Art Fair is not as big, but is a high-profile event. Around 50 exhibitors will present trends in contemporary art. A selection procedure by a top-class jury guarantees a high quality level of the exhibited works.
Trade fair Leipzig – On land and water
The Motorrad Messe Leipzig is a meeting point for the general public. The trade and visitor fair is particularly important for manufacturers. More than 250 manufacturers from all over the world will be showing their latest models here. In addition, the fair convinces with a varied supporting programme.
The Beach & Boat, a water sports fair in Leipzig, on the other hand, provides information about innovations in water sports. Here visitors will find a comprehensive range of products and services for leisure activities in and around the water. Due to the early trade fair date, it provides information about new products, boats and other water sports equipment punctually before the start of the season.
