1.9 million visitors in 2017: Trade fair Munich is a crowd-puller. One reason for its enormous success is certainly its broad spectrum of topics. From capital goods and consumer goods to new technologies, trade fairs cover a wide range of industries. It hosts numerous leading international trade fairs, such as bauma, which takes place every three years and is the world’s leading trade fair for construction, building materials and mining machinery, construction vehicles and construction equipment.

Flexible exhibition grounds

The exhibition grounds are optimally designed to meet the different requirements of the 22 trade fairs held regularly in Munich. A total of 18 halls provide 200,000 square metres of covered exhibition space. In addition, there is 414,000 square metres of outdoor space – more than at any other trade fair in Germany. Trade fair Munich also includes the International Congress Center Munich (ICM) and the Event Center Munich (MOC). Both ICM and MOC offer flexible space solutions for small trade fairs, specialist conferences, product presentations and training courses. Completion of the multifunctional Conference Center North is planned for 2019.

Sustainability at trade fair Munich

Trade fair munich is also a pioneer when it comes to sustainability. It is regarded as one of the most modern and environmentally friendly trade fairs in the world and received the “energy-efficient company” certificate from TÜV Süd in 2008. It has one of the largest photovoltaic roof-mounted systems in the world. In combination with a sophisticated concept for the efficient use of energy, trade fair munich saves more than 8,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. Those responsible want to continue on this path unswervingly in the future and have therefore already signed the GCB German Convention Bureau’s sustainability code “fairpflichtet” in 2014.

Trade fairs for capital goods

Capital goods make up the majority of trade fair munich event focus. These include some of the world’s leading trade fairs. The bauma in particular is worth mentioning here, as with 605,000 square metres it is the largest trade fair in the world in terms of area. In 2016, more than 3,000 exhibitors were represented at bama and informed almost 600,000 visitors about innovations in the fields of construction machinery and building material machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment as well as mining machinery. In addition to numerous practical application examples, the fair offers an extensive forum programme with lectures on current industry topics.
